What is TS 16949?

Developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), ISO/TS 16949 harmonizes various supplier quality system requirements for the design, development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. With the alignment of these multiple automotive quality system standards, automotive parts suppliers can obtain a globally recognized certification.
ISO/TS 16949 represents the current minimum requirements requested of suppliers by most of the major OEMs worldwide, including GM, Chrysler, Ford, Renault, BMW, VW, PSA and Fiat. Any organization manufacturing automotive parts and included in the OEM supplier chain is eligible for registration.
Benefits of registration to the ISO/TS 16949 standard include:

  • Increased value from its process-based methodology
  • Ability to satisfy customer requirements even if you have clients on different continents
